Who is more desperate, or more wicked?

This week, a line from a presidential candidate’s town hall in Manchester, “Tell them no!”, spread across social media in a quote card padded with words he did not say on the recording. One camp turned families who depend on remittances into political leverage. Another doctored a quote to stoke outrage. Either way, the mother at home became a prop.

What neither side offered is what a nation needs most: a shared definition of who a Nigerian is, grounded in shared values and shared interests. Without it, politics becomes a den of scammers, each side blaming the other while the people pay.

YG1K’s answer begins with Omoluabi: integrity, responsibility and honour, the common ground every ethnic nation can stand on. Money sent home is a lifeline, not a bargaining chip. Votes should be won with truth, not taken with fear.

Bí a kò bá fọwọ́ sùn, a ò ní lè sún áyà. If we do not fold arms together to sleep, our chest will never rest.

Fact note: The remarks were made on 18 October 2026. The candidate has since said they were twisted; the Presidency disputes that. The viral card’s wording is not his recorded quote. (Sources: Daily Trust; Naija News.)
