Our Leaders
Dr. Patrick Akinbola
Dr. Patrick Akinbola is a cultural strategist, educator, and institutional builder whose work spans cultural innovation, diaspora engagement, public health equity, and creative-economy development. For more than three decades, he has been engaged in building platforms that connect culture, knowledge, and community empowerment across Africa and the global African diaspora.
He is Co- founder of Infopower International Inc., a nonprofit organization established over thirty years ago to promote cultural education, youth empowerment, and global dialogue within African and diaspora communities. Through Infopower International, Dr. Akinbola has led initiatives that combine cultural heritage, educational programming, and community development to strengthen identity, creativity, and global awareness among younger generations.
Dr. Akinbola is also closely associated with Yoruba Global One Thousand Inc. (YG1K), a global initiative designed to mobilize Yoruba professionals, scholars, artists, and leaders across continents into a coordinated intellectual and cultural network. The initiative seeks to strengthen diaspora collaboration, support cultural preservation, and build institutional frameworks capable of translating cultural knowledge into sustainable economic and social development.
His academic training reflects the interdisciplinary nature of his work. Dr. Akinbola earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) and later completed both a Master of Education (M.Ed.) and a Doctorate at University of Missouri, where he developed a scholarly foundation that integrates creative practice, education, research, and community engagement.
In addition to his cultural and educational initiatives, Dr. Akinbola brings extensive experience in public health research and program implementation. For more than twelve years he worked with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, where his responsibilities included addressing health disparities and contributing to research and program strategies aimed at improving health outcomes among underserved communities. This work deepened his understanding of structural inequities and community-based intervention models, perspectives that continue to inform his multidisciplinary approach to institutional development and social impact.
Across his career, Dr. Akinbola’s work has consistently emphasized the role of culture, education, and knowledge systems as strategic resources for community empowerment. By integrating insights from the arts, education, public health, and diaspora studies, he has pursued initiatives that strengthen cultural identity while advancing collaborative solutions to contemporary social challenges.
Today, Dr. Akinbola continues to work at the intersection of culture, research, and institutional leadership. Through Infopower International and initiatives connected to YG1K, he advocates for new models of African-led collaboration that connect heritage, creativity, and global networks to support long-term cultural, intellectual, and economic development.
